Keep Safe, Stay Safe…..

It never harms to remind yourself about the importance of staying safe whilst enjoying yourself. Some simple tips makes it better to be safe than sorry …...

Keep your purse safe:

  • Wear a shoulder bag across the front of your body
  • Always keep your purse out of sight and zip up your bag and keep it closed
  • If people push or bump into you CHECK YOUR BAG IMMEDIATELY
  • DO NOT leave your handbag on a shopping trolley or pushchair – HOLD ONTO IT.

Keep safe on the move:

  • Be aware of your surroundings
  • Think about your route, especially if you’re going to be on your own or carrying lots of shopping bags late at night.  Avoid dark areas such as alleyways or unlit passages
  • Have your bags where you can see them. When in a public place, such as a bar or restaurant, try to make sure a handle or strap is secured on a hook or under a chair leg, so that the bag can’t easily be taken away
  • If you are carrying valuables, be discreet. Talking on your mobile, listening to music on headphones or carrying a laptop all show thieves you have things worth taking
  • Think about keeping your valuables in separate places so if you lose your bag you haven’t lost everything.

Keep safe when driving:

  • Plan your journey, know your route and tell someone where you are going. Make sure you take essential items (such as a mobile phone) with you and check you have up-to-date breakdown cover
  • Keep anything of value, such as bags or mobile phones out of sight
  • If you think someone is following you, keep driving until you reach a busy public place
  • Always park in a well lit and preferably busy area. Take extra care in multi storey car parks
  • When returning to your car, have your keys ready so that you can get in quickly.
